
Nona Wilson, PhD, LCPC
Clinical Lecturer
Nona L. Wilson is a core faculty member of the Counseling@Northwestern program, where she holds a clinical lecturer position. Wilson has been a full-time counselor educator for 24 years. She held the rank of tenured, full professor at three institutions prior to joining the faculty at Northwestern University. She developed the Theories of Counseling and Lifespan Development: Adult-Focus courses for the online program. Wilson serves as a team chair for Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs accreditation site reviews. She served as membership chair for the North Central Association for Counselor Education and Supervision from 2016-18 and was a member of the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy from 2006-14. Wilson has published and presented on topics such as the intersection of media and mental health, clinical supervision, and psychodynamic practice for counselors. She is a strong advocate for ongoing professional training and completed an extramural training program in cognitive therapy at the Beck Institute, a fellowship with the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis, one year of training in adult psychoanalytic psychotherapy with the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute, and is currently in a one-year distance training program with the Institute for the Psychoanalytic Study of Subjectivity in New York. Wilson is a licensed clinical professional counselor in Illinois and maintains a private practice.
